Mulatu Astatke & the Heliocentrics

Mulatu Astatke, the father of Ethio-jazz music, and Stones Throw/Now Again Records' Heliocentrics joined forces and recorded an album for Strut Records' Inspiration Information series.



The Heliocentrics have already released an album called "Out There", which i personally find really nice.

The new record is called "Inspiration Information Vol. 3" and u can download it here.

By the way, The Heliocentrics & Mulatu Astatke are going to appear live at Synch festival this summer in Athens, Greece.
Untill then, Stones Throw has a couple of videos of them playing live.

Word on the street is that also Madlib will play live at the same festival, although nothing has been officially announced.

Ejekt 2009

Duffy's appearance in this years Ejekt fest is canceled..

Not that anyone cared that much. 

The people who organize the festival (and other upcoming gigs) released an announcement that was at least hard to understand, blaming people etc.

..whatever!

Update: The people of Ejekt fest will continue complaining and Duffy will finally still appear live in Greece, according to the rumor.. It's just that she will appear in another festival!! The Rockwave festival! Long live the greek mythology, with its clashes of titans!! I'll sit back, relax and enjoy the "fight"..

The Subways

The Subways will play live in Greece.

They will perform 2 shows. One in Athens, in Kyttaro club on 19.03 and one in Thessaloniki, in Principal theater the next day, 20.03.

Ticket prices have not been announced yet. I assume it's gonna be something like €30 or something.

I wouldn't say i'm a great fan or anything, but i'll think twice since they've got a fairly cute girl playing bass..

Omar Rodriguez Lopez

Omar Rodriguez Lopez is a former member of At the Drive-in and also a current member of Mars Volta (he's the one with the glasses!)

He will appear in An Club, on March 14th.

James Blunt will play Athens, Greece on March 11th 2009.

He came last year too, if i'm not mistaken..

Only now there will be giving out 2 free razor blades with the purchase of each ticket, so people will be able to cut off their ears..

Or James' vocal chords.

Rumors say that by previous request, u may order rusty razor blades for extra pleasure! But hurry there are not a lot available..

Summer gigs rumors part 2

Duffy's appearance on Ejekt fest '09 is official! There's no doubt about it..

But, monday morning has something new for us..................

Paul Weller is said to play Athens on July 14th 2009!!

The venue has not been announced, neither is there an official confirmation out yet.

The gig is organized (once again) by Detox Promotions, but it's got nothing to do with Ejekt Festival.

Probably there are some more acts to be announced by those guys..

We will provide info as soon as we know more.

A rumor is starting to spread that Duffy will appear on Ejekt festival this year in Athens.

The exact date is said to be June 19th 2009. The place has not been announced, neither do we know anything more about additional artists or bands yet.

At last..

The rumors have been proven true. It is official!! AC/DC will play live in Athens Olympic Stadium on May 28th 2009!!!

We're happy!

Tickets will be available from February 3rd onwards. € 60/70/90 seated and €80 standing. Blame the greedy fuckers at didi music for this.

Let's hope the attendance will be greater than Manu Chao's gig last summer, so those people may understand that the greek audience is not consisted of hairy sweat-stinking tree-hugging hippies.

Anyways, that's what i call good news and i can't be bothered trash talking.

It's a long way to the top, if u wanna rock'n'roll..

Xmass Vodka Tour

Yeah!! Two of the best greek bands at the moment are playing together! It's Vodka Juniors and Planet of Zeus and it's the launch of Vodka's Xmass European Tour, on December 19th at AN Club, Athens! They've announced gigs in Italy, Austria, Germany and Belgium, with Planet of Zeus supporting the show in Athens, and I think there's more to come! Don't miss them! We sure won't!!

Sooo.... the Herbaliser are coming to Greece again! It 'll be the second time in two months, but this time is gonna be different... it's gonna be a real concert! They 're appearing on December 10th at Principal, Thessaloniki and on the 11th at Gagarin, Athens, and they 're gonna play with a full band!!! It's not official yet either, but it's on the band's site and myspace, so get ready!!
