The 60s-70s greek mix

As u may have read on the previous posts Egon mixed some greek stuff the other day, which lit up the flame once again for me to listen to some of that shit over the past couple weeks. So much was i excited that i decided to put together some of those traxxx for another scgoneam mix. I didn't think of anything cool to name it though.

It's all greek 60s & 70s tunes, from those kinda dark ages the land we were born went thru. Lyrics in both greek and english. Akritas, Aphrodite's Child, Peloma Bokiou, Dimitris Poulikakos, Kostas Tournas, Demis Roussos and The Charms are few of the names featured, among others. Do the research yourselves.

Chairlift - Does You Inspire You (@v0 vbr)

Swathed as it is in the kind of ’80s arrangements of flutes and chiming guitars that have rarely been allowed beyond Carol Decker’s lushest, most velveteen fantasies, this album is an open goal to accusations of trend-following revivalism. But, like Ladyhawke’s debut, the sheer quality of songwriting justifies any retrospective leanings they may have.

Does You Inspire You is an inspirited debut that proves Brooklyn is still the indie king.

NTEIBINT

NTEIBINT is a young guy from Athens, Greece, exactly like us, the existence of whom i happened to notice the past couple of days.

Unlike ourselves who only keep a blog and share music with y'all, he is being a bit more productive. Nteibint focuses on remixing tracks. Actually he replays all of the instruments on a song in his own way, keeping the original vocals.

Just as he did with Jamie Lidell's  "Little bit of feel good", which resulted to the release of a single on Warp Records.

I've just heard the tracks he's uploaded on his MySpace page and some others on a radio interview he gave yesterday (maybe some of them were the same, dunno..), nothing more..

He's also done the "Old Skool to New Skool Radio Mix", which i will download from here, as soon as my sister leaves and stops whining to me about using all the bandwidth..

Gotta get back to my boring responsibilities now..

Kieran Hebden & Steve Reid - NYC (320 kbps) [2008]

The duo's virtuosic picture of the 21st-century city feels so alive it might convince Escape From New York's Snake Plissken to return.

It’s great headphone music and would make a suitably dense soundtrack for a drunken stroll through the Lower East Side, where much of the inspiration for NYC was found.

Recorded over two days in February, the six-track album never grates but instead remains funky and accessible without pandering to the listener. from here

Ομολογώ οτι ο δίσκος, δεν πήρε τις καλύτερες δυνατές κριτικές απ' τα γνωστά μουσικά στέκια-sites, αλλά όπως λέει και ο σοφός : "οι γνώμες είναι σαν τις κολοτρυπίδες. Όλοι έχουν από μία.."
Ααα και μην ξεχνάτε οτι οι ηχογραφήσεις έγιναν σε μόλις 2 μέρες. Αμα υπάρχει ταλέντο και όρεξη για δουλειά... Σίγουρα στο top 20 μου για το 2008.

Cast-a-Blastin' thru ur speakers

By now i think that we've made clear thru this blog how much we like the music of the Cast-a-Blast crew. 

Those guys have put out some tunes that no one in Greece had ever done before. Plus they keep on playing in clubs and various venues both live and dj sets.

They have 5 releases, and i think it's more than enough, to know what's goin' on with them. I read just yesterday that The Ottawa Bros' "Duck Soup" is sold out, Blend's "Misplaced" is now being pressed for the third time and the rest (i.e. BNC's "The Birth", "The Incredible/The Invisible by Sugahspank! and "Backslam Extravaganza" by Palov & Mishkin) are selling like crazy! If u ask me, i think that's what they deserve..

Anyways, Blend was interviewed by radiobubble.gr and there's a podcast available to download here.  (sorry but greek only.. but the music's good)

I know it's been a while, but some problems with the "killing coffee drops" kept me away from my laptop. You should also add my laziness and there you got it!

Anywayz, AdMad came for a visit last week. Good timezz..

At this moment, AdMad is probably still on the plain back to Greece.

After a week of beer drinking and music listening, we are proud to present our first mix!!

We dug deep into London's record shops, bought some vinyl and finally today we mixed them.
